The Town of Prosper has cracked the top 20 list of CNN Money’s Least Crowded Towns subcategory in the Best Places to Live list, according to Town Manager Harlan Jefferson.

“The CNN Money editors contacted us recently to gather more information about Prosper. The subcategory of Least Crowded Towns in the Best Places to Live list included some of the country’s most scenic and picturesque cities and towns. It was an honor to be included in that company,” he said.

The annual list of Best Places to Live is cross-referenced along a number of subcategories including Top Earning Towns, Best Places for Affordable Homes, Best Hotspots for the Rich and Single, among several others, including Least Crowded Towns.

The editors cited the Town’s growth posture and included a mention of the recently adopted Comprehensive Plan, which the magazine referred to as a “biz plan.” They also made a reference to Preston Road’s impending commercial boom, calling it “development along the central corridor.”

Even so, the online magazine, says, “But there is still serious small-town mojo and they want to hang on to it. After all, this is a place where locals funded and built their own playground, a Girl Scout troop rallied for recycling bins in Frontier Park, and adult softball leagues were launched because of growing interest.”

Jefferson sees this as an indication that Prosper is on an upward rise. “We’re appearing on people’s radars in more and more ways. Our task is to ensure that our growth is purposeful, meaningful and in keeping with the wishes and desires of the people who live here. Our staff is very much aware of the awesome responsibility we have not only to today’s residents but also to tomorrow’s community,” he said.
